Get into Prime Shape with Accent Prime

"Flowers.....are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world."

Beauty is often a balance of colour, gloss, form and shape and no matter how much we skirt the issue, there is no denying that all of us are in pursuit of that perfect form and shape. Fitness is a holistic pursuit encompassing many things such as a good lifestyle, healthy eating, exercise and emotional and spiritual well being. Yet even after following all the dictats of fitness, sometimes we feel certain problem areas remain. We battle with flabby skin, cellulite, shapeless contours. Especially women go through so many physical changes in life such as pregnancy and getting back into shape can be challenging. One may lose the weight but often we reach plateaus where we feel no further enhancement is happening, no matter how hard we work out. One could always do with tighter skin, better toned body.

Accent Prime  by Alma Lasers is a non-invasive, state-of-the-art solution for face and body contouring and aesthetic enhancement, and now this technology is available in Hyderabad at Dr. Sudha Vani's Sri Skin and Cosmetology Clinic at Banjara Hills. Dr. Sudha Vani is a reputed dermatologist and cosmetologist of the city, who understands each patient's lifestyle and background before prescribing treatments. She reiterates that no cosmetic treatment replaces healthy diet, exercise or  sensible lifestyle, however she feels her treatments may make people more aware and conscious of making healthier choices and working hand in hand. Accent Prime is her current favourite equipment, the only one of it's kind in Southern India. Combining RF (Radio Frequency) & US( Ultrasound) technologies, it provides customised treatments for body contouring, skin tightening, cellulite reduction and skin rejuvenation.

Recently they organised a blogger's meet and experiential wherein Dr. Sudha explained this sophisticated treatment from Israel based company at length. It is mainly meant for targeted sub cutaneous fat volume reduction in a localised area. For example even after losing weight, some people may have a paunch or a double chin or love handles. This is often due to loosening of the skin and stubborn fat under the skin and above the muscle.

The therapist first takes necessary measurements and applies a jelly and uses different sized probes to massage the area. The process is comfortable but slight heat is generated which can cause a little, temporary redness of skin. However temperature of skin is maintained during the 20 minute session by constant monitoring and not allowed to exceed 42-48degrees. In my case I tried the treatment on belly area and at the end did find a better toning and firmness. However for a more drastic transformation, 6-8 or more sessions may be required. The good part is this not a quick fix method. Firstly it is not applicable for people with BMI of more than 30. It does not claim to facilitate weight loss but aims at toning the body. It is advised to take plenty of fluids and water before and after the treatment.

Accent Prime by Alma Laser is sure to get popular amongst figure conscious people of Hyderabad who like to maintain a svelte, fit and sexy persona. Apart from all the good things you do to look good and feel healthy, a little helping hand from Accent Prime would be more than welcome!

Unwind at The Spa at Sheraton

Modern lifestyles demand that we pamper ourselves once in a while and unwind with some expert intervention. While the search for the perfect Spa goes on, there are many criteria I personally pay attention to. Proximity, ambience, hygiene, level of training of staff and the overall offerings.

The Spa at Sheraton, Gachibowli is one such haven of tranquility I experienced recently that fulfilled all my expectations. As the Spa is located next to the pool, the cool blue water sets the mood for a tranquil and calming experience. I spent some moments on a deck chair next to the pool to calm my frayed nerves. The Spa at Sheraton is a holistic oasis that incorporates ancient Ayurveda practices and aromatherapy into each service for a true awakening of the mind, body, and soul.

I had been experiencing some lower back pain for the past few days, something that started after a pilates class, when I bended over suddenly to tie my shoe lace. While it was nothing serious worth visiting a doctor, yet the niggling ache was irritating and making me lazy. I thought of trying out the Sheraton Signature Massage Therapy that I had heard about from a friend.
This is a customised treatment incorporating International and Ayurvedic techniques, hot stone and bundles that can relieve your head, back and legs as per your choice.

Upon arrival you'll be warmly greeted with green tea and dark chocolates. Soft tones of brown and pearl, plush sofas in the reception area, and calming music and nature sounds create a serene scene. My therapist gave me various suggestions and going through the Spa Menu, I was already planning my future visits as they have extensive treatments such as Jet Lag Massage, Stress Reliever, Deep Tissue Massage and Pre Natal De-stresser.
In the Ayurvedic section they have Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Kati Vasti(special for lower back pain too,a circle is made on your back using a paste of black gram and then hot oil is poured into the circle, which alleviates pain and lubricates the spinal discs) and Choornaswedana(in this, sweating is induced by application of warm herbal poultices, this is good for sports injuries, rheumatism, arthritis etc).

They also have some excellent Body Polishes, Scrubs and Wraps with exotic names such as Basil and Marigold Sand Polisher, Himalayan Clay Body Wrap and Kokum Butter & Honey Wrap! I was almost hungry reading the names but I am sure such natural goodness would do wonders to your skin.
There are separate changing areas and locker rooms for men and women with their own steam and sauna inside, giving you ample privacy. Fluffy white towels and light wood interiors welcome you everywhere.
The expert massage therapists and estheticians work with specially-designed oils, as well as the Forest Essentials line of herbal and natural products for the skin and hair, for an elevated experience.
My therapist started with a foot ritual and then moving on to the massage followed by hot stone therapy and hot bundle therapy for the back. There was magical relief with he hot stone therapy and at one point I asked her to just keep the hot bundle on my back for a few minutes. the treatment lasted for 60 min covering rest of the body and a head massage too. She also gave me a valuable tip to place a bolster under my knees while sleeping that relieves the arch of the lower back and gives rest to it. I liked the involvement and personal touch.

Post-spa relaxation, I retreated to the sauna and steam room, conveniently located in the separate women's locker room. I could feel a miraculous rejuvenation of all my senses and took my own sweet time to appear out of the steam and chilled shower. The Spa Manager, Christine Rozario was there to take my feedback, giving tips on how to further treat my back ache at home.

While walk-ins are welcome, I suggest making an appointment 24 hours in advance. The Spa at Sheraton Hyderabad is truly a well managed and well organised Spa with attentive staff and that peaceful atmosphere.

Oval Beauty Brushes by WiseShe

The world of beauty is evolving at a fast pace. While there are more and more brands and products available today, it is important to stay tuned to quality launches. Often in our quest to look and feel beautiful, we hoard unwanted products and end up confused about our look. My two bit of advice would be to keep your look as simple and fuss free as possible. The accent is certainly on a natural look these days, with make up that looks...well, not like make up! Eyebrow have been growing thicker and thicker and more au natural, skin base is cleaner, nudes are always in fashion and the dewy morning fresh look has many takers.

In all of this there is no doubt that the correct application of make up is important. You may buy the most expensive foundation or eye shadow, but if you don't apply it properly or it turns out patchy, the effect is lost. Today I want to share with you an excellent set of oval make-up brushes by Anamika Sureka who is a successful beauty blogger, of the WiseShe.com fame. Anamika has launched her own range of make up brushes and they are certainly my beauty find of the season. For years I used normal make up brushes that usually came with the sets. For foundation I often dabbed the product on my fingers and made the classic dots on the face and evened out the foundation with my bare fingers. Let me add that I never found the result mind-blowing and foundation was not my favourite make up product. For the simple reason that I often found my skin better without it.

Blend away your imperfections effortlessly!

One shot at trying Anamika's make-up brushes and I saw the difference. The bristles are so soft and pliable, they literally glide over your face and blend the foundation effortlessly. The brushes are available in different sizes. The large oval brush is perfect for foundation and the smaller one I received is for eye shadow or blusher. The oval shape makes it so easy to apply the right amount of product on your skin, without it being overpowering. I simply loved the brushes and find myself with clearer and smoother looking skin these days. Oh when someone asks me, I obviously attribute it to good genes and drinking 3 litres of water a day!

Mystique and Allure at Store Anonym

Have you ever come across women who looks effortlessly elegant? They turn heads but the attention doesn’t consume them. There are no ostentatious labels on them. Then there are some homes that look so warm and welcoming. But you cannot put your finger on what exactly makes them so appealing. Well, chances are these are the understated clientele Store Anonym caters to. Aptly named, Store Anonym is an exquisite Lifestyle Store which houses ready to wear unconventional, Artisanal clothing, Accessories and Home décor with a chic and elegant feel.

The Store Anonym was founded by the entrepreneur duo Vinita and Vikas Passary who are also the co-founders of their home-grown brand 'Translate' which started its offerings in 2010, using artisanal fabrics that spell luxury. Vinita says proudly, “Store Anonym has its time tested and consistent loyal patrons yet it mostly sells through word of mouth publicity. Store Anonym is a popular destination amongst smart travelers and the people of Hyderabad who have love for luxury handcrafted clothing and lifestyle.” The store has curated collections of a range of carefully selected designers who have a distinctive story to tell.

When you enter Store Anonym, the sheer variety of colours, textures, fabrics and silhouettes fascinates you. Each one of their designers showcases works with techniques that are truly unique and mesmerising. It is obvious that Store Anonym is dedicated to promoting Indian textile designs, crafts and clothing for the past 10 years. But it does so with utmost flair and finesse. On display are not only the timeless pieces in khadi, Ikat and mirror work from Gujarat but also a carefully curated selection of the best in global fashion.

The design philosophy of the store appears to be that of simplicity and ‘less is more’. They design for the real woman and almost never get associated with fashion shows, relying more on the concept of Pop-ups which gives them a closer engagement with people truly interested in their clothes. No wonder then that some of their regular clientele include Tabu, Tisca Chopra, Jaya Prada, and Telugu actresses such as Amala, Samantha, Charmi Kaur and Sangita Reddy, Apollo Executive Director, women known for their sense of style. Their range of collectible clothes redefine the concept of staples in a wardrobe and emphasises the wisdom in dressing simple. Store Anonym houses over 40 designers such as Shades of India, Tulsi by Neeru Kumar, Umbar by Payal Pratap and Purvi Doshi, including Translate which is their own label.

In clothing their collections include dresses, tops, jackets, kurtas etc that one can easily mix and match for scintillating effect. The love for Ikats and indigenous Indian crafts is evident. They also have unconventional accessories such as jewellery, stoles, scarves, dupattas and foot-wear. Noteworthy amongst these are collections by DHORA, Dip Your Toes and Desi Pitaara. They also stock accessories by Ritika Sachdeva that has been seen sported by the likes of Katrina Kaif, Aditi Rao Hydari and Yami Gautam.

Their Home Décor Collections include a wide variety of eye-catching furnishings, bed sheets, cushions, hand-woven rugs and tableware that are sure to add a classy sheen to your home. In this section, I loved the collection of Translate and Pomegranate.

A trip to Store Anonym is such a treat for the senses, like taking a deep dive into the world of aesthetics, design, pattern and silhouette and emerging a little more stylish, a little more suave and a little more chic! But Shhhhh….., do keep Hyderabad’s best known secret for tasteful dressing safe!

Color Bar French Manicure Kit

India is such a vibrant land of colours. Our festivals give us many reasons to deck up and flaunt our vibrant hues. Festive season is fun indeed when we reconnect with our desi diva and revel in ethnic eccentricity. But once the festivities and kitschy couture is over you want to go back to the basics. It is almost like a colour palette detox. Make up needs to be lightened up after a while. Skin needs to breath.

Same goes for nails. This festive season I tried many shades on my nails ranging from hot pink to maroon to orangish red and purple(that took the cake). One thing bad about bold colours on the nails is that even one small chip, and they look atrocious. Lighter colours and glossy nail paints last longer as minor chips don't show.

But nothing can beat the understated elegance of a French manicure. I have got it done many times at salons and it is always priced higher than a regular manicure. Which is fine when you want to indulge yourself. The best part is that with a French manicure you don't have to bother about matching it with your attire as it goes with everything. How often have you come home from a manicure with a pink or magenta nail paint and decided to wear something red or maroon the next day. Fashion disaster! You have to either quickly remove the colour and go bare nailed or just hide your hands while having animated conversations with people!

A French manicure does not give you these dilemmas. So when I chanced upon the Color Bar French manicure Kit, I was intrigued. Could I do it at home? It comes in a very neat packaging replete with a cute Eiffel Tower. Now I am quite a francophile. I love all things French. Show me an Eiffel and I am happy. Yet the product had to prove worthy of its promise. The neatly cased three bottles hold the secret to a chic and sophisticated makeover to your nails.

The instructions are given clearly. I suggest you remove all old traces of any old dark nail paint completely from your nails, wash your hands and dry them before starting to get the sublime purity of the French manicure. It is also advisable to file your nails in a neat, even shape before starting.

You start with a base of the pale pink lacquer and put two coats of that. it is a very nice pink, not too light. I had once bought a foreign brand and the pink was too pale for my skin that I looked anaemic. But this pink is suited for Indian skin tone.

You wait for the pink base to dry. Then with the white lacquer and the perfect inbuilt brush, you apply the white border at the edge of each nail. You do need steady hands for this step but most women are fine with this kind of precision.

Finally when the white dries, you top it up with a transparent top coat that seals in the beauty of the subtle shades and adds a glossy sheen, giving your nails a natural rosiness! French manicure looks equally good with Western and Indian attire. With western formals especially, it lends a professional look. With Indian attires, which are generally colourful, it offsets the busy prints and patterns and gives a colour relief. I am loving my Color Bar French Manicure.

Here seen below enjoying a glorious sunset in the favourite corner of my home. Sometimes you don't need to step out of home to find something exciting. Sometimes the best things in life are pure and simple, like a glorious sunset and a do-it-at-home French manicure!
